—:——

Day 15 of this daily Bible reading seeks wisdom for decisions through Psalm 25:4-5, Proverbs 3:5-6, and James 1:5. Standing at a crossroads can be paralyzing — should you take that job, end that relationship, move to a different city? The weight of making the 'right' decision can keep you stuck. David's prayer is beautifully simple: 'Show me your ways, Lord.' He's asking for guidance for the next step, not a detailed roadmap twenty years into the future. Proverbs gives us the key: trust in the Lord with all your heart — our trust relationship with God should be the starting point for every decision. And James adds something wonderful: God gives wisdom generously without finding fault. He delights in helping His children make good choices. This short devotional includes Scripture reading, reflection, and prayer. From 3 Verses a Day, a daily Christian devotional podcast by Mark Ross Junkans.

Reflection

Standing at a crossroads can be paralyzing. Should you take that job offer? End that relationship? Move to a different city? Make that major purchase? Go back to school? The weight of making the "right" decision can keep you stuck, analyzing every possible outcome until you're dizzy with indecision.

Maybe that's where you are right now. If so, breathe. God isn't playing hide-and-seek with His will for your life.

David's prayer is beautifully simple: "Show me your ways, Lord." He's not asking for a detailed roadmap twenty years into the future. He's asking for guidance for the next step, wisdom for today's decisions. Sometimes we think we need to see the whole staircase before we take the first step, but God usually reveals His will one step at a time.

The famous passage in Proverbs gives us the key: trust in the Lord with all your heart. Notice it doesn't say "figure everything out with your mind." Our minds are important, and God gave us brains for a reason, but our hearts—our trust relationship with God—should be the starting point for decision-making.

James adds something wonderful: God gives wisdom generously without finding fault. You don't have to worry that you've asked for guidance too many times or that God is frustrated with your need for wisdom. He delights in helping His children make good choices.

Here's a practical truth: God is more interested in your character than your location. He's more concerned with who you're becoming than where you're living. Often, the "right" decision isn't about finding the one perfect option, but about making a good decision and trusting God to work through it.

Prayer

God, I need Your wisdom for the decisions I'm facing. Thank You that You give generously without judgment. Help me trust You with both the decision and the outcome.

Application

For one decision you're facing, spend more time asking "What would honor God?" than "What would benefit me?"
