Psalm 89:2 · Lamentations 3:23 · 2 Timothy 2:13

Day 14 of this daily devotional celebrates God's faithfulness through Psalm 89:2, Lamentations 3:23, and Second Timothy 2:13. Sarah stared at the pregnancy test, tears streaming. Negative. Again. After three years of trying, she wondered if God had forgotten His promises. Maybe you've been there — not necessarily with pregnancy, but with some hope that keeps getting deferred. God's faithfulness is as reliable as the stars that shine night after night, as consistent as the sunrise every morning. Jeremiah wrote about God's faithfulness from the ruins of Jerusalem, everything he'd known destroyed, yet he declared that God's mercies are new every morning. And Paul's words are perhaps the most comforting: even when we struggle with doubt, He remains faithful. God hasn't forgotten you. This morning devotional includes Scripture reading, reflection, and prayer. From 3 Verses a Day, a daily Christian devotional podcast by Mark Ross Junkans.

Reflection

Sarah stared at the pregnancy test, tears streaming down her face. Negative. Again. After three years of trying, monthly disappointments, and well-meaning friends asking when they'd start a family, she was beginning to wonder if God had forgotten His promises. Maybe you've been there too—not necessarily with pregnancy, but with some promise that feels delayed, some hope that keeps getting deferred.

Here's what I've learned about God's faithfulness: it's not always expressed the way we expect or on our timeline, but it never fails. The psalmist declares that God's faithfulness is established in the heavens—as reliable as the stars that shine night after night, as consistent as the sunrise that comes every morning.

Jeremiah wrote about God's faithfulness from the ruins of Jerusalem. Everything he'd known was destroyed, his people were in exile, and hope seemed foolish. Yet even then, he could declare that God's mercies are new every morning. Faithfulness doesn't mean God prevents all difficulties; it means He remains present and loving through them all.

Paul's words to Timothy are perhaps the most comforting of all. Even when we struggle with doubt, when our faith feels weak, when we can't sense God's presence—He remains faithful. His faithfulness isn't dependent on the strength of our faith; it's rooted in His unchanging character.

Think about it: has there ever been a time when God completely abandoned you? Even in your darkest moments, weren't there signs of His presence—a friend who called at just the right time, an unexpected provision, a verse that spoke directly to your heart? God's faithfulness often shows up in ways we don't recognize until we look back.

God hasn't forgotten you or the things you've been praying about. His timing might be different from yours, His methods might surprise you, but His faithfulness never wavers.

Prayer

Faithful God, when I struggle to see Your hand at work, remind me of all the ways You've proven trustworthy in the past. Help me rest in Your faithfulness even when I can't see the bigger picture.

Application

Write down three specific ways God has been faithful to you in the past, and let those memories strengthen your trust for today.
